🌞 Weather – Mid to Late September in Banff

55–65°F daytime temperatures — cool, crisp, and comfortable for sightseeing, lakes, gondola rides, and scenic drives

Chilly mornings and evenings — light jackets or warm layers are recommended, especially near lakes and glaciers

Beautiful fall mountain weather — fresh air, golden fall colors, and clear mountain views when the weather is good

Good daylight hours — sunset is usually around 7:45–8:00 PM, giving enough time for lake visits, photos, and evening walks

No summer heat — ideal for exploring Banff Avenue, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake, and Columbia Icefield

Mountain weather can change quickly — please carry layers, a light rain jacket, and comfortable walking shoes

September is one of the most scenic times to visit Banff, with refreshing mountain air, early fall colors, and fewer summer crowds.

Even though fall color is expected, it ultimately depends on nature and cannot be guaranteed.
